Right from day one it was maintained that actress Kangna Ranuat is the third lead in the much touted film KITES. However recently, filmmaker Anurag Basu, in an interview with news daily, revealed that Kangna has only special appearance in the film and doesn't have a meaty role as people thought of.

Simultaneously, the filmmaker also stated the reason behind casting Kangna in the film. He said that he took Kangna in the film because he considers her a lucky mascot. Whenever Kangna has been a part of his film it did wonders at box-office and earned rave reviews. GANGSTER, LIFE IN A METRO and WOH LAMHE all have been huge hits.
Now when Anurag is looking forward to the most expensive and highly anticipated film of his career, KITES, how can he not bring in his lucky charm to front?
Even Kangna is happy with this fact and did the film only for dear friend Anurag Basu
